State Current Affairs of July 2025

  • Gingee Fort in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu, was officially declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort is part of the Maratha Military Landscapes, a group of 12 forts now recognized globally for their cultural and historical value. Gingee Fort, also called the “Troy of the East”, is one of the oldest and most unique forts in South India.
  • Arthunkal Police Station in Alappuzha district, Kerala, has become the first police station in India to receive the IS/ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification, awarded by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
  • Carnac Bridge in Mumbai has now been renamed Sindoor Bridge. The name change honours the success of Operation Sindoor, a recent military operation against terror camps in Pakistan.
  • Uttarakhand government launched ‘Operation Kalanemi’, a police operation to take strict action against people pretending to be saints.
  • The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has launched a new ‘Saheli Smart Card’ for women and transgender persons to travel free on Delhi buses.
  • Bihar government has approved a proposal granting 35% reservation in government jobs exclusively for women who are native to Bihar.
  • The Punjab government has officially launched the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana, that promises free and cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh annually for every family living in the state.
  • Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in India to start Aadhaar-based face authentication for giving ration under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

State Current Affairs of June 2025

  • Bonalu festival celebrated in spectacular fashion at the Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, marking the beginning of a month-long celebration steeped in Telangana’s folk traditions.
  • Kerala has become home to India’s first butterfly sanctuary. The Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary in Kannur district has officially been renamed the Aralam Butterfly Sanctuary.
  • On June 25, 2025, Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar declared that Bihar will soon have its first nuclear power plant, making it one of the first six Indian states to be included in the rollout of Small Modular Reactor (SMR)-based energy systems.
  • Assam government has announced OBC classification for the transgender community.
  • Bihar has become the first Indian state to adopt a mobile-based e-voting system in the country. The new system was launched during the municipal and urban body polls scheduled for 28th June.
  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a 2 MW canal bank solar project along the Bikram Lock Canal in Patna district. The project, built at zero cost to the state, is part of Bihar’s Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan to promote green and sustainable energy. Developed through a private partnership, the solar plant will supply electricity at ₹3.10 per unit for 25 years.
  • On World Environment Day (June 5, 2025), the Tamil Nadu government officially declared a Greater Flamingo Sanctuary at Dhanushkodi in Ramanathapuram district.
  • IAF officer Manisha Padhi has been appointed as the first woman Aide-De-Camp to any Indian Governor. The appointment to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati of Mizoram was formalized during a ceremony.
  • An important archaeological discovery has been made in Udampatti village of Melur taluk, Tamil Nadu, where the foundation of an 800-year-old Shiva temple belonging to the later Pandya period has been unearthed.
  • Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on June 3, 2025, approved a proposal granting 20% horizontal reservation to former Agniveers in direct recruitment for posts in the Uttar Pradesh Police, including roles such as Constable, PAC, Mounted Constable, and Fireman.
  • Telangana has officially notified the Kawal-Tadoba tiger corridor as the Kumram Bheem Conservation Reserve.

State Current Affairs of May 2025

  • Goa becomes the second Indian state to be declared fully literate under the ULLAS Scheme. Mizoram has been declared India’s first fully literate state. A state/UT achieving 95% literacy is considered fully literate. 
  • Nagshankar Temple, located in Biswanath district in northeastern Assam, has been named a model temple for turtle conservation.

State Current Affairs of April 2025

  • Mizoram is currently grappling with a severe outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF), which has led to the death of over 3,000 pigs within a month.
  • Similipal has officially been granted national park status, making it the second national park in Odisha and the 107th in India.
  • Tripura’s Chief Minister, Manik Saha, inaugurated the ‘Garia and Borsho Boron Utsav 2025’ in Agartala, a two-day cultural festival, focusing on the Garia Puja held by the Tripuri and Reang communities.
  • The Madhya Pradesh government has officially declared the establishment of a wildlife sanctuary in Sagar district, named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, ahead of his 134th birth anniversary on April 14, 2025. This sanctuary, called Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Abhyaran.
  • Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the Bhagirath app as part of the Jal Sanrakshan Abhiyan 2025, aiming to engage citizens in identifying and reporting endangered water sources.
  • Haryana’s Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, has made a significant move by announcing a 20% reservation for Agniveers in police jobs, marking the state as the first to offer such a provision.

State Current Affairs of March 2025

  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has declared that a 58-foot statue of Potti Sriramulu will be erected in Amaravati as a tribute to his pivotal role in the formation of Andhra Pradesh. Sriramulu’s 58-day hunger strike in 1952 was instrumental in the state’s creation.
  • Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the state’s first scientific coal mining block, “Saryngkham-A”, at Byndihati in East Jaintia Hills. This marks a significant shift from the traditional rat-hole mining, which was banned by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in 2014 due to safety and environmental concerns.
  • To enhance women’s safety in public spaces, the Delhi Police has launched ‘Shishtachar’ squads across all districts.
  • Assam government has announced plans to launch its own satellite, ASSAMSAT, to bolster data access for crucial socio-economic initiatives and enhance border security. 
  • To enhance the safety and protection of women and children affected by violence, Punjab government officially launched ‘Project Hifazat’ .

  • The Jammu and Kashmir Police registered its first-ever e-FIR at Police Station Khrew, marking a significant step towards digital policing. 
  • Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the state with the highest vulture population in India, marking a major success in wildlife conservation. According to the first phase of the 2025 vulture census, the state’s vulture population has reached 12,981, a significant increase from 10,845 in 2024 and 8,397 in 2019.
  • The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government in Assam has recently taken a significant step toward recognizing indigenous faiths by including ‘Bathouism’ as an official religious option in application forms.
  • The Kerala government has introduced Nayanamritham 2.0, an AI-driven eye screening initiative aimed at early detection of chronic eye diseases. 
  • The Mising tribe of Assam recently celebrated the Ali Ai Ligang festival, which marks the beginning of the agricultural cycle.
  • Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, becoming the fourth woman to hold this position after Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi.
  • Madhya Pradesh has introduced India’s first Global Capability Centers (GCC) Policy 2025 to attract multinational corporations by developing Tier-2 cities like Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur into global business hubs.
  • The Haryana government has launched the ‘Har Khet-Swasth Khet’ campaign to improve soil health and ensure sustainable farming practices. Under this initiative, soil samples from every acre of farmland in the state will be collected over the next three to four years, and Soil Health Cards will be issued to all farmers.
  • On February 9, 2025, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned following nearly two years of ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
